Say Not, They Die, Those Splendid Souls

Say not, they die, those splendid souls,

Whose life is winged with purpose fine;

Who leave us, pointed to the goals;

Who learn to conquer and resign.

Such cannot die; they vanquish time,

And fill the world with glowing light,

Making the human life sublime

With memories of their secret might.

They cannot die whose lives are part

Of the great life that is to be;

Whose hearts beat with the world’s great heart,

 And throb with its high intensity.

Those souls are great, who, dying, gave

A gift of greater life to man;

Death stands abashed before the brave;

They own a life death cannot ban.

I Think Of You

I think of you often

and make no outward show,

But what it means to lose you,

no one will ever know.

You wished no one farewell,

not even said good-bye,

You were gone before I knew it,

and only God knows why.

You are not forgotten

nor will you ever be,

As long as life and memories last,

I will remember thee.

To some you may be forgotten,

to others a part of the past,

But to me who loved you dearly,

your memories will always last.

Nothing can be more beautiful

than the memories I have of you.

To me, you were someone special,

God must have thought so too!

If tears could build a staircase

and memories a lane,

I would walk all the way to Heaven,

And bring you back again.

Where Do They Go?

Where do they go to, the souls who leave?

Are they around us, in the cool evening breeze?

Do they still hear us, and watch us each day?

I'd like you to think of them with us that way.

Where do they go to, when no longer here?

I think that they stay with us, calming our fear.

Loving us always, holding our hands

Walking beside us, on grass or sand.

Where do they go to, well it's my belief

They watch us and help us to cope with our grief.

They comfort and stay with us, through all of our days,

Guiding us always through life's mortal maze.

You're here with me

Although I cannot see you

I know that this is true

I feel your arms surrounding me

You watch over all I do.

Guiding me and giving me

A light to show the way

You influence the way I am

and how I act throughout the day.

You're here with me, I know you are

I can sense your love and charm

Drifting in the cool night breeze

and keeping me from harm.

I hope that I might make you proud

As I give support to others

Those who feel despair, they are

My sisters and my brothers.

So here I stand, with eyes ahead

And I'll try hard you'll see

To make my life a worthwhile time

Because I know you're here with me.

Happiness Waiting for You

There is light at the end of the tunnel.

There is calm at the end of the storm...

There is rest at the end of the journey,

and a hearth that is welcome and warm.

There's a star on the top of the mountain

you can touch when the last crag is scaled.

There's a certain reward for the faithful

at the point where they think they have failed.

There's a spring at the end of the winter

and behind the black cloud it is blue...

There's a song at the heart of your sorrow,

and happiness waiting for you.

Do you make them laugh in Heaven,

does your smile bring them good cheer?

Do you make the sun shine brighter,

like you did when you were here?

The very mention of your name,

the memories of your smile,

The little things you said and did,

are with us all the while.

You meant so very much to us,

there’s nothing left to say,

Except that without you here

there is no perfect day.

For no-one knows the heartache,

that lies behind our smiles,

No-one knows how many times

we have broken down & cried.

We want to tell you something

so there won't be any doubt,

You're so wonderful to think of,

but so hard to be without.

We hold you close within our hearts,

and there you shall remain.

To walk with us throughout our lives,

until we meet again.

Dad

Dad...so many images come to mind

whenever I speak your name;

It seems without you in my life

things have never been the same.

What happened to those lazy days

when I was just a child;

When my life was consumed in you

in your love, and in your smile.

What happened to all those times

when I always looked to you;

No matter what happened in my life

you could make my gray skies blue.

Dad, some days I hear your voice

and turn to see your face;

Yet in my turning...it seems

the sound has been erased.

Dad, who will I turn to for answers

when life does not make sense;

Who will be there to hold me close

when the pieces just don't fit.

Oh, Dad, if I could turn back time

and once more hear your voice;

I'd tell you that out of all the dads

you would still be my choice.

Please always know I love you

and no one can take your place;

Years may come and go

but your memory will never be erased.

Today, Jesus, as You are listening

in your home above;

Would you go and find my dad

and give him all my love

Mom

How does one write on paper,

feelings I have inside inside.

The heartache & the emptiness,

when the mom I loved, has died.

How do I carry on,

and smile through tears I cry.

The loneliness I feel for mom,

why did she have to die.

How do I get through tomorrow,

when today has left me tired

Why can’t I turn back the clock

and have the time desired.

I don’t know if I can do it,

I just can’t seem to believe.

my friend, my soul mate, my mother,

why did she have to leave.

But I do hope your happy mom,

wherever you may be.

Free from the pain you felt so long,

now smiling down on  me.

Please guide me through my life mom,

‘cause I’m scared here on my own.

Think of me, as I do you,

and we’ll never feel alone.

So I’ll say goodnight to you now

And blow kisses to the sky,

Rest up with the angels, Mom,

Just for now it is goodbye.
